The company owns two sand pits in the Monteregie area: one in St-Lazare and one in St-Polycarpe.
Quality of the product
The quality of the product extracted from a sand pit is determined by two major factors including the quality of the sand and how it is extracted. The geology of the Sablière Chevrier pit features a surface layer composed of earth and yellow soil, below which lies the sand. The sand, in turn, is composed primarily of class A and class B (backfill). An important characteristic of the Chevrier pit is the size of the sand grains (granulometry) which vary from coarse to very fine. The granulometry of the sand, which is an indication of its quality, is verified by an independent laboratory.
The company services a diverse clientele including private individuals, road and building contractors, wholesalers, aggregate quarries, retailers and various turnkey construction projects. The company is also developing its potential as a supplier to filtration and drainage markets. While the company owns a number of trucks which are available to deliver its products, the majority of clients provide their own transportation arrangements.
